Learning Beyond the Classroom in Clonakilty

14th Feb 2026

Clonakilty is one of our greatest strengths. As a school, we value the many opportunities our town provides for meaningful, real-world learning.

Through the many opportunities our town offers — from its coastline and natural environment to its vibrant arts scene, sporting tradition, local businesses and strong community spirit — our pupils engage in learning experiences that extend well beyond the classroom. Clonakilty provides a living context for education, allowing our pupils to connect their learning to the world around them.

We believe that education is enriched by connection. The pupils of Scoil na mBuachaillí are not only learning in their town — they are learning from it. These community links foster curiosity, responsibility, pride and a strong sense of belonging.

Our pupils benefit greatly from the many partnerships and opportunities available locally. From working alongside Clonakilty Tidy Towns and supporting environmental initiatives, to visiting our local library and participating in community projects, festivals and sporting events, they experience first-hand what it means to be part of an active and supportive community.

These partnerships enrich learning, build civic pride, and remind us that education extends well beyond the school gates.

If any local organisation would be interested in supporting educational experiences for our pupils through collaboration or shared initiatives, we would be delighted to explore opportunities to work together. Please feel free to contact the Principal, Norma Harte, through the school office.

We are grateful for the continued support of our local community partners, including:

  • Clonakilty & Dunmanway Credit Union

  • Clonakilty GAA Club

  • Clonakilty AFC

  • West Cork People

  • Clonakilty Notice Board

  • The Southern Star

  • Clonakilty International Guitar Festival

  • Clonakilty GAA Sports & Leisure Complex

Thank you for helping to make Clonakilty such a wonderful place for our pupils to learn and grow.
