✨ Pass on the Kindness – December at SNB! 💛 At SNB, kindness is at the heart of everything we do — and our December “Pass on the Kindness” initiative is now in full swing! 🌟 We’ve set up a special Acts of Kindness Post Box at Noreen’s desk, and pupils are invited to drop in their kindness slips all month long. 💌💕 We’d love your support at home — especially for our younger pupils — in helping them write down an act of kindness, add their name and class, and pop it into the box before the holidays. Every entry goes into a draw for a family pass to the Panto! 🎭✨ Let’s fill our school with kindness this December. Thank you for helping us spread positivity, caring and joy across our community. 💛😊

Our younger boys matched the success with another 1st place finish! 1️⃣ Adam Kingston 2️⃣ Eliott Revon-Tkocz 3️⃣ Jamie Moynihan 🙏 Huge Thank-You! A big thank-you to Ms Regina Fitzmaurice, event organiser, for running another excellent day of orienteering. And special thanks to the staff who travelled with and supported our team: Ms Niamh Mac Auley, Ms Carol O’Boyle Ms Orla O’Keeffe & Ms Ciara O’Leary Your encouragement and care made the day run smoothly for everyone. 📸 A Lovely Moment We also captured a gorgeous snap of some siblings, cousins, and teachers’ sons from our orienteering crew at Tramore Valley Park — a perfect reminder of the community spirit behind our school. 💛 🎉 Congratulations to all our competitors! Delighted to be featured in the West Cork Classroom Chronicles 🥰🥰
Our students recently rolled up their sleeves for one of the most festive and hands-on activities of the year: building gingerbread houses! 🍬🏠✨ While it may look like pure seasonal fun, this project is packed with meaningful learning. As children designed and constructed their gingerbread creations, they built teamwork 🤝, problem-solving 🧩, and creative thinking 🎨 skills. They also explored real-world STEM concepts—planning stable structures 🏗️, experimenting with shapes 🔺🔶, and testing which materials make the strongest “cement” for their walls and roofs 🧱🍭. From measuring icing 📏 to engineering sturdy bases 🔧, students used maths, science, and collaboration in a truly delicious context. And of course, the joy and pride on their faces 😄⭐ as their gingerbread houses came to life made the experience even sweeter! 🍫🎄 A big thank you to Ms O'Keeffe for her creativity, guidance, and festive spirit in making this project such a wonderful success! 🙌❤️🎅
🎶✨ 2nd–6th Class Present: Hosanna Rock! ✨🎶 Our 2nd–6th class pupils are bringing Hosanna Rock to life at Clonakilty Parish Church, celebrating the Christmas story through music, movement and storytelling! 🌟🎄 Come along and enjoy a joyful performance filled with confidence, creativity and festive cheer. It’s the perfect way to experience the magic of Christmas and support our talented pupils! 👏🎤 📅 Don’t miss it — everyone is welcome! #HosannaRock #ChristmasJoy #FestiveFun #CelebrateTalent I Love Clonakilty Clonakilty Notice Board Clonakilty Parish
♟️ Online Chess Success! ♟️ Huge congratulations to our amazing 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils who took part in this year’s Schools Online Chess Tournament! The event combined both in-school and at-home sessions and gave pupils a brilliant opportunity to develop strategic thinking, focus and problem-solving skills — all while enjoying friendly competition on Lichess. 💻♟️ 🔎 Lichess is a free, open-source, ad-free platform where players can enjoy puzzles, tournaments, computer analysis and lots more — all funded by donations! 🙌 At school, pupils had fantastic resources to support them, including our fully stocked computer room, lots of physical chessboards in our custom-built chess trolley, and even our giant outdoor chessboard in the playground! 🖥️🧩🌳 After 30+ years in SNB, our chess club is as strong as ever! 🎉 👏 ✨🇮🇪 The final session of the tournament took place on Lá Fichille, a special day celebrating chess across schools in Ireland. On this day, pupils from around the country come together to enjoy the game, test their skills and take part in friendly competition. It’s a fantastic way to promote strategic thinking and the joy of chess! 🏆♟️ The tournament sessions took place on: 📅 12th November 📅 19th November 📅 26th November – Lá Fichille A massive thank you to: 👏 Ms Niamh Mac Auley for her incredible leadership 👏 Ms Laura Connolly and Mr Ciarán Crowley for their support in school 👏 Parents and guardians for facilitating home participation We are so proud of all pupils for their dedication, enthusiasm and the wonderful skills they developed along the way. 🌟♟️
😊We are so proud of Ms O'Regan👏
🎵 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎶
